  Passage 3
Recently, I asked some of my American friends what Chinese people are like. They used the words such as smart, hard-working, serious, conservative (保守的) and “a little bit like robots. ” They also said Chinese was the most difficult language to learn.
To me, these sounded like stereotypes(成见).
First of all, not all Chinese people have high IQs. Chinese students are hard-working and do well in American schools, so many Americans think Chinese people are smart. But scientists say there is no connection between race(种族)and intelligence(智力).
Second, not all Chinese people are conservative. If you walk down a Chinese street, you’ll see that people don’t all wear dark colors and long sleeves(袖子).These days, more and more Chinese people like to wear clothes that show their personalities(个性).
Third, Chinese people are not serious and not like robots outside work or school. They are active. They have many hobbies and do many activities. They live a colorful life.
Last, Chinese isn’t the most difficult language to learn in the world. In fact, the grammar of Chinese is easier than that in many languages. Also, there are 50,000 characters(汉字) in Chinese, but knowing 2,000 to 3,000 words is enough to read newspapers and books.
  61. Usually Americans don’t think Chinese people are ________.
  A. conservative       B. hard-working       C. serious       D. active
  62. In the writer’s opinion, Chinese students do well in American schools because _________.
  A. they have high IQs                             B. they are rich
  C. they are hard-working                      D. they have personalities
  63. Now more and more Chinese people _______.
  A. are out of style                         B. are in style
  C. wear dark clothes                       D. wear clothes with long sleeves
  64. After work or school, Chinese people _________.
  A. only do housework                           B. only stay at home
  C. are a bit like robots                           D. do what they like
65.Which language do Americans think is the most difficult?
  A. Chinese.        B. English.                       C. German.        D. French.
Passage 4
When people go to the beach on vacation, many people like to eat seafood. But not everyone can enjoy it. Some people think seafood tastes great, but their bodies don’t like it at all. When they eat it, their skin gets red and itchy(痒的). That’s because they’re allergic(过敏的)to seafood.
When someone is allergic to a food, his body doesn’t see that thing as a food. It sees it as an enemy and tries to fight it. It fights by making antibodies(抗体). Sometimes, when the body fights a food, it can make a person very sick.
There are some ways to deal with food allergies. One is to stop eating the food that you’re allergic to, but this may be hard. People are often allergic to very healthy foods, and it’s hard to always avoid them.
People can be allergic at different ages to different foods, like eggs, milk or peanuts(花生). If you think you might be allergic to a food, ask a doctor to have a look first.
